do the little baby geckos pee from the rooftop? I think so, because today in medewi there have been two raindrops falling on my hand from above, but it wasn’t raining in our room *lol* (although it rains a lot here)

I really like the lefthander here, it’s smooth and nice to beginners and longboarders, although it can get pretty huge.

unfortunately bf is bored of course, because it’s not a proper shortboard-wave. and he starts complaining about everything: the dirty water, the black sand, the rocky beach – oh dear…

“eating one week motorbike”

dear surfer-fellows traveling on a budget: do not have dinner in one of the fancy restaurants at jimbaran beach! what a mistake – *lol*. first of all, it wasn’t really nice (the food for 10.000 rupees at kuta beach is way better!!!) and second, “we have been eating one week motorbike” like my bf put it aptly ;)

I hope he will get used to the asian food. until now, he’s not in it at all. he’s searching for food he likes everywhere, but there is no tajine or couscous in indonesia – only rice three times a day. hell, and hes misses the bread…

finally, after three exhausting flights, we landed in bali. a friend of a friend of mine picked us up at the airport, really cool, because we landed after sunset and it’s always better not to look for a room at night. she managed everything for us in advance – wow! thanks dewi!

but we will move from jimbaran to kuta, because it’s much cheaper there. hopefully we find a somewhat nice place for some nights. I don’t really want to stay in or around kuta for too long. the tourists crack my nerves. I know, we are tourists too, but you know what I mean.

I’d rather be in a small village with some nice suferdudes and -girls, nice locals, a good surf during the day and a cold bintang in the evening. hopefully I can convince my bf to go to medewi for some days – he’s not really into it yet, because he’s afraid that the lefthander might be too small for him, which could be true, but for me it would be PERFECT!!!

that’s the thing when you travel together having different surf skills. but I hope we will not fight too much about it. if you are in or around kuta, let us know. maybe we can join for a session or a drink! :)

once upon a time…

…a surfergirl started packing! yeah!!! I waited so long for this moment :) well, I know – I start early, but I will have to do a lot of packing and unpacking until I’m really done. it’s not so easy to pack for three months, I never did that before. but it’s such a lot of fun! and anticipation is growing immensely :)))

airline troubles

yesterday I received a mail from seat24 that etihad airways didn’t accept our request to take our surfboards on the flight from kuala lumpur to denpasar and back. AND… hold on! today I got a mail from air asia that they will suspend their flights from denpasar (bali/indonesia) to clark (philippines) from june 15th on. if there are still seats available, we can MAYBE fly with another airline and they will book it for us or money back. fair enough!

but what to do now really? we can only stay 30 days in bali, no visa extension possible for my bf due to his place of birth. AND WITHOUT OUR BOARDS it makes no sense at all to fly anyway, because we don’t have the money to buy new ones in bali nor do we want to rent and pay for shitty boards when we got amazing (custom) ones back home! AAARGH!!!

highway of broken dreams

I have been on the freeway today… suddenly my car became slower and I saw that it ran extremely hot. so I called the wreckers and in the garage they told me that it’s most likely done. the repair could cost 3.000 dollars and more. if that is true, my surftrip died today… ;(

I wanted to book our flights from casablanca to jakarta and from denpasar to manila today. just to make sure that it’s true what the net says (visa-free indo for 30 days and visa-free philis for 21 days), I called the embassies in my country and they told me: moroccan citizens have to apply for a visa back home for indonesia and the philippines. I cannot find veryfying statements on the net! I’m going crazy! hopefully the embassies in morocco answer my mails soon, because I don’t have a clue what to do now…

why are some people on this planet blessed to travel wherever they want while others are cursed and punished just because of their place of birth??? ;(((

searching for a left next to a longboard wave

does anyone of you know spots in asia , where a really nice left is next to a longboard wave? the thing is: I have to find destinations where I’m happy and also my goofy-boyfriend can surf properly :)
